Brazilian Blow Dry - By Chloe

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Brazilian Blow Dry
Treatment and other hair straightening and relaxing systems such as Japanese Yuko and IHR (Ionic Hair Retexturising)?

The Brazilian Blow Dry Treatment does NOT use strong chemicals to
open and close the hair cuticle in an effort to straighten it. It doesn’t
alter the hair structure; therefore it doesn’t damage the hair.
The treatment uses keratin which is a natural protein that comprises of 88% of your hair. The keratin is sealed into the hair, trapping moisture, hydrating the hair creating a smooth, silky, frizz free and glossy finish.
This method washes away with time and is diffused, so there is no noticeable difference between new hair and treated hair.

Does the Brazilian Blow Dry Treatment completely straighten
and flatten the hair like the other systems?

No, the treatment is different from Japanese straightening and other straightening systems because it doesn’t completely straighten the hair. The hair still has plenty of volume and body and can still be worn curly or wavy. The Brazilian just softens whatever curl or wave you have. If the hair is air dried, it will still have wave or curl but no frizz.
On the flip side if you want to blow dry your hair straight, you can do that without a brush, in a fraction of the amount of time it would have taken without the treatment.
Also, with other methods there is a line of demarcation, meaning that when new hair grows in, it is curly/wavy while the rest of the hair is straight.

Can you do the treatment over a Japanese Straightener?
Yes, you can do the treatment over any kind of straightener.
I recommend waiting two weeks.

Can you do the treatment on top of relaxed hair?
Yes, you can do the treatment over any previously relaxed hair but only after two weeks.

Is this treatment a relaxer?
No, it’s a treatment based on Keratin and Collagen that naturally softens, shines, smoothes, eliminates frizz and gives instant manageability.

Can you do the treatment on previously chemically treated
hair?
Yes, this treatment can be done on any previously chemically treated hair.

Can you do this treatment on coloured hair?
Yes, the hair can be coloured 48 hours after having the treatment.

Can you do the treatment on highlighted hair?
Yes, the hair can be highlighted after 48 hours.

Can you do the treatment on virgin hair?
Yes, it can be done on virgin hair.

what age?
Yes, I recommend on children of seven years and over.

Can I have the treatment if I am pregnant or nursing?
I would not recommend having any treatment chemical or not.

Yes, I recommend you colour the hair first and immediately follow up with the Brazilian Blow Dry Treatment or we recommend colouring your hair two weeks after you have done the treatment.

Shall I cut my hair before the treatment?
Yes, if you are changing your style but not if you are needing a trim only.

How long does the treatment take to do?
Depending on the length and thickness of the hair the Brazilian Blow Dry takes between 2 – 4 hours

Can I shampoo my hair after the treatment?
Yes, but only four whole days after you have done the treatment.

What should I do if my hair gets wet during the
first four days?
Blow dry immediately and use ceramic straighteners if necessary.

Can I wear a ponytail or tie my hair immediately after treatment?
No, during the first four days, do not tie your hair, put your hair behind your ears, put glasses on your head or use hair grips or clamps.

If I get any ridges in my hair when I sleep, what
should I do?
Use either a blow dryer or ceramic straightener to straighten the ridge in the hair. (A silk pillowcase can prevent this!)

Can I use my hair spray, gel, mousse, or any other
hair products on my hair during the four day period?
No.

Can I go into the pool or ocean after my treatment?
Try not to, as the treatment is washed out more rapidly by sodium chloride and chlorine. Sodium chloride (salt) is in sea water and chlorine is in most swimming pools and spas.

How long will the treatment stay on my hair?
Two to four months depending on how often the hair is washed.

What shampoo can I use after the treatment?
I recommend QOD Aftercare shampoos and conditioners which are sodium chloride free. These products also contain Keratin and UV protection.
They are available for purchase.

Do I have to touch up just the roots on my next visit or the
whole head?
The entire head from roots to head.

When should I have the treatment done again?
Two to three months, or as needed.
